Get urgent medical advice if:
Ask for an urgent GP appointment or contact NHS 111 Wales if you think you, your child or someone you care for may have a urine infection and:
- has a very high temperature, or feels hot and shivery
- has a very low temperature below 36°C
- is confused, drowsy or much more unwell than usual
- has pain in the lower tummy or back, just under the ribs
- can see blood in their urine
Contact your GP practice urgently if you cannot pass urine, have new blood in your urine, or have severe pain.
Call 999 if someone is very unwell, confused, difficult to wake, has severe pain, or you think it is an emergency.

Sexual health and genital symptoms
Sexual health clinics are confidential and can provide tests and treatment for many sexually transmitted infections, also called STIs. They can also give advice about contraception, free contraception and condoms.
Sexual Health Wales also offers free home STI testing kits for chlamydia and gonorrhoea, and can also provide kits for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and hepatitis C testing.
